Versace brought back ‘90s’ supermodels, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schieffer, Cindy Crawford, Helena Christensen and the former first lady of France – Carla Bruni Sarkozy to close the Spring/Summer 2018 show. This was done in an attempt to commemorate the the 20th anniversary of Gianni Versace`s death.
Chief Fashion Designer, Donatella Versace caused a very welcome royal stir when she brought Naomi age 47, Claudia age 47, Helena age 48, Carla age 49 and 51year old Cindy back to the catwalk in order to close the show in a breathtaking style.
DONATELLA AND THE SUPER ICONS
The models were joined by Donatella Versace as they walked down the runway to George Michael`s 1991 Soundtrack – Freedom (Just as they had done within 1991, with Gianni Versace). They all held hands as they walked the runway and payed a rapturous tribute to the man who helped most of them acquire their world renowned supermodel status. Donatella announced that the SS18 fashion show was going to be a celebration of her brother Gianni Versace`s legacy and not the sadness surrounding his death in 1997.
Donatella also explained that the new Versace collection will feature pop – art references and scarf prints that will pay homage to Gianni Versace`s joyous spirit as a designer. She will also add Gianni`s 1991 baroque collection, the 1991 Warhol show and parts of the 1992 Animalier collection.
The models who were all late into their forties and early fifties looked incredibly fit and prepared for the catwalk.
Naomi Campbell has merged her modeling career with a successful movie career – recently appearing in American Horror Story and a recurring role in the hit series, Empire. Before age 16, she had already appeared in British Elle Magazine. In 1987, she became British Vogue`s first cover girl after her close friend, Yves Saint Laurent, threatened to withdraw his advertising from the magazine.

Each time Naomi was faced with racial discrimination, her colleagues and friends such as Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista supported her. Both models were quoted when they told Dolce & Gabbana, “If you don`t use Naomi, you don`t get us” In 1990, Interview magazine declared Naomi Campbell, “the reigning megamodel of them all”

Cindy Crawford married restauranteur Rande Gerber and retired from modeling as early as the year 2000 in order to focus on her family and her businesses. She has successfully launched a furniture and skincare company, produced two successful models (daughter Kaia, 16 and son Presley, age 18). Cindy has amassed wealth in excess of $100 million.

Kaia`s 18 year old brother, Presley is also quite successful as a model and walked the runway during fashion week for fashion houses such as Ralph Lauren, Bottega Veneta, Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein.

Helena Christensen was Miss Universe Denmark in 1986 and then became the winner of The Look Of The Year, in 1987. After appearing in magazine covers such as W, Elle, Vogue and Harper`s Bazaar, she has also been in fashion campaigns such as Chanel, Hermes, Valentino, Sonia Rykiel, Lanvin, Prada, Versace, Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld, Ermanno Screvino, Reebok and Revlon. In October 1999, she had a son, Mingus Reedus with actor, Norman Reedus.
