MYCHAEL ANTHONY KNIGHT JR. AT FASHION WEEK EL PASEO IN 2016
Designer Mychael Knight died at age 39, on Tuesday morning in a hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He had supposedly checked into the hospital, seeking treatment for some intestinal issues. Mychael was in New York in September during fashion week, where he showed his latest collection.
MYCHAEL, PREPARING HIS COLLECTION
In 2001, Mychael graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Apparel Design and Merchandising, from Georgia Southern University, in Statesboro, Georgia.
He auditioned for the Bravo network reality series, Project Runway twice, before finally becoming a contestant for season three, in 2006. Although he placed fourth in the overall competition, Mychael won the season three Fan Favorite Award.
MYCHAEL IN 2007, SPEAKING ON THE RUNWAY AT PROJECT RUNWAY 
By 2007, he became a household name, when he collaborated with the Starbucks Corporation and designed a line of custom tees for them. In 2008, he launched his fragrance, MajK and then, Kitty & Dick – his unisex lingerie line.
In 2009, Lifetime television aired the Project Runway All Stars Challenge and Mychael, once again became a contestant.

In March of this year, he told Ebony Magazine that he was developing a line of dresses for a mass retailer and planned to venture into wardrobe/costume for TV and Film.
Mychael said;
“It`s always been my mission to create looks that address their individual body and not the trends”

In 2012, while showing his Spring Collection at New York Fashion Week, Mychael disclosed his future career plans. He said;
“You have to work for it” This whole process was hard as hell. I cried a lot this year. You can`t give up”
Lifetime network released a statement through CNN;
I quote;
“We are saddened to hear about the passing of a member of the Project Runway family, designer Mychael Knight,”. “It’s a loss of a great talent and we wish his family peace and solace during this difficult time.”

Mychael`s friend and Founder/Creative director of Obvious Magazine, Jerris Madison, released a statement from Mychael Knight`s family and – I quote;
“We are still processing the untimely death of our son, brother, friend, and uncle. Mychael meant everything to us and we loved him dearly. He was generous and so full of life. This is how we choose to remember his legacy.” – The Knight Family
