Santhosh, a very young 13 year old Indian boy, received a letter from the hospital informing his family that he had cancer. The young boy decided to hide the letter from his family because, he did not want to alarm them.
Santhosh, whose grandmother had died from cancer was a champion basket ball player in his local school. He is also a very brilliant student who wanted to keep his illness to himself as he did not believe, his parents would be able to handle the fact that he had cancer.
He has since confided in his uncle who dutifully informed his parents. The parents are terribly in debt due to an agricultural catastrophe which was created, due to a lack of rainfall. Santhosh needs a bone marrow transplant which could cost upwards of 1.5 million rupees, which is approximately $23, 400.00. This little boy`s blood platelets have dropped drastically but he insists on not letting his parents understand how very dire his situation is. His father has started fundraising on several crowdfunding websites, hoping to raise enough money that would cover his son`s medical bills.
Santhosh, though very weak and hardly able to walk, continues to attend school and said: “ I want to continue to do well in school and make my parents proud but I hope cancer does not kill me, like it killed my grandmother”.
Heart touching story Spanny. How can we help this young boy? He will not die in Jesus name. My heart goes out to his parents. Thanks again for this heart felt story.
