Former Miss World 2001, Agbani Darego married her longtime beau, Ishaya Danjuma, son of Billionaire Theophilus Danjuma. The wedding took place at the Amanjena Luxury Resort, in Marrakesh, Morocco. At age 18, Agbani Darego who hails from Abonnema, Rivers-State, became the 51st winner of the Miss World title and the first native African to be crowned Miss World. She was crowned the 2001 winner in Sun City Africa, by the previous winner and current Bollywood star, Priyanka Chopra.
Agbani helped coin The Guiness Beer slogan, “Black Is Beautiful” after she won the Miss World title. Due to her busy schedule, she transferred to New York University. After she got signed to Next Models in New York, Agbani has since been featured in several commercials and was signed to a deal by the Trump Management and a three year contract by L`Oreal. She has also worked with A-Listers such as Naomi Campbell, Marc Bouwer, Oscar De La Renta, Gianfranco Ferre, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren.
The 34 year old beauty queen has been featured in Trace, Stitch, Marie Claire, Allure, Cosmopolitan, Elle and Essence Magazine. She has been photographed by Annie Leibovitz for Vogue Magazine. As a model, she has worked for brands such as, Macys, Sephora, Target, Christian Dior and Avon. In 2012, Agbani Darego, graduated from New York University with a degree in Psychology. In 2010, she launched Stylogenic, a fashion and reality show on Nigerian television. Three years later, she produced AD BY Agbani Darego which features a swimsuit and lingerie line which includes, handbags, sunglasses, dresses and jeans.
