On August 2015, during the public presentation of  a book titled: – ‘Pastor E.A Adeboye: His Life And Calling’ Acting President of Nigeria,

Professor Yemi Osinbajo said “I consulted with Daddy and he gave me the go ahead to accept the Vice Presidential position – I was not a politician, before then”

 This all took place at the Redemption Camp on Lagos-Ibadan. The acting President also stated that, he had also consulted his wife, Dolapo Osinbajo (granddaughter of former Nigerian Statesman and Nationalist, Chief Obafemi Awolowo).

The chairman of the occasion was, former President Olusegun Obasanjo. The former President, described Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, as a man of God who has touched more lives than many politicians.

Chief Obasanjo also disclosed the fact that, Pastor Adeboye, is a true man of God whom, he had benefited from because, he had previously consulted the pastor regarding his plans, before contesting the 1999 election.

At that very moment, the PDP (The Peoples Democratic Party) maintained that, Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo was a figurehead, since they believed him incapable of running the government. The YWCA consistently presents leadership development opportunities to women and girls. There are women and children, living under the federal poverty line or less, every year. There is documented proof  that 76% of women and children that seek help from the YWCA, only earn as little as $23,850 every year, for a family of four.

On an annual basis, the YWCA supplies, more than 122,000 women with economic empowerment opportunities. They also provide more than 2,200 military veterans and their families with healthcare, housing, career education and family counseling. Today, women constitute more than half the American workforce.

The workforce is overwhelmingly saturated with a large number of women with children under the age of 18. A large number of women of color, have low wage jobs in industries that require  basic workplace preservation. Out of date workplace policies, are entrenched in the twenty-first century. This, as a result, has compromised most of these women`s work life balance.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, has disclosed the facts concerning the status of his health. The president had left Nigeria for London, seeking treatment against what his team referred to, as a recurring ear infection.

Buhari, who left Nigeria since May 7^th, 2017, insists he is well enough to go home but prefers to follow doctor`s orders. The President`s Media Team, led by Mr. Lai Mohammad, the Minister of Information and Culture, met with a clearly emaciated President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Abuja House, in London, England.

Mr. Lai Mohammad was accompanied on his visit by, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Matters, Mallam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity and Lauretta Onochie, the President`s Personal Assistant, Digital/Online Media. The Media Team, further echoed President Buhari`s statement, informing the Nigerian people that the Nigerian President`s health had improved but, they could not offer a definite medical release date.

Following the flurry of visits to the President in London, from party leaders, state governors, and Acting President Yemi Osinbajo – the Nigerian people have been demanding an explanation regarding the status of President Buhari`s health. Nigerians demand to know when the President would be able to resume his duties or resign, if health issues, continue to derail his ability to continue as the leader of the Nigerian people.
In 2015, during the election campaign, President Buhari had vehemently denied reports that he was gravely ill with prostate cancer. He categorized those claims as a ploy to present him as unprepared for the office of president.
Most Nigerians are very suspicious, the president`s team, could be harboring a cover up, concerning the ailing 74 year old Muhammadu Buhari`s health, because on May 5th 2010, President Umaru Musa Yar`Adua had died in office, following a visit abroad for medical treatment.

 

 

Ann Kio Briggs, A Highly Committed Social Rights Leader in the Niger Delta, has exposed the truth about the comments that were made by Professor Ango Abdullahi, the former Chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University.

Ann maintains that, professor Ango Abdullahi`s  lies, stating that funds from the Northern Region, were used to effectively run the Eastern and Western Region, while  also developing the oil resources, construct Nigerian Railways, Refineries and other facilities, will always wreak havoc, chaos and bitterness amongst the people of the Niger Delta.

Professor Ango also claims that, the Western and Eastern Regions were being economically funded by the Northern Region, before and after Nigerian colonization. In other words, the East and West have comfortably lived off of the generosity of the Northern Region.

Well, Ann Kio Briggs stated that Professor Ango was distorting history by making such broad and untrue statements. She continued that, claims such as what Professor Ango continues to increase division and induce the anger 0f the People of The Niger Delta.

 

 

 

Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru, popularly known as Reminisce, recently revealed that, he would make the transition from rapping, to politics.

The FEEGO AND BABAHAFUSA rapper, regret`s not fulfilling his dream of graduating from college. Reminisce, went on to say that, he prefers to plan ahead and prepare for a career in politics since he considers it unseemly that, music will continue to support his financial needs when he grows old.

Reminisce does not believe in flaunting his wealth ostentatiously but prefers to invest in his family and community. He also stated that he has properly invested in certain lucrative business deals. Most important of all, he cautioned young people interested in the music industry to hone their skills before establishing a career in music. He did continue to state the fact that, its always advisable to complete one`s education, before venturing off into show business.

The rapper believes that, with a very strong academic background, there would be no limits to what an individual can achieve in life.

 

Former Miss World 2001, Agbani Darego married her longtime beau, Ishaya Danjuma, son of Billionaire Theophilus Danjuma. The wedding took place at the Amanjena Luxury Resort, in Marrakesh, Morocco. At age 18, Agbani Darego who hails from Abonnema, Rivers-State, became the 51st winner of the Miss World title and the first native African to be crowned Miss World. She was crowned the 2001 winner in Sun City Africa, by the previous winner and current Bollywood star, Priyanka Chopra.

Afrika “70 band leader and pioneer of the Afrobeat music genre, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, revolutionized PanAfricanism, Nkrumahism, Traditional West African chants and rhythms, African Social and Political issues. Fela also globally, institutionalized Yoruba religion and traditional ceremonies, Nigerian Highlife music and Psychedelic rock.

Fela, the son of Reverend Isreal Oludotun Ransome-Kuti and Nigerian feminist activist- Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, studied music in London, at Trinity College Of Music. Two years after arriving in London, he married his first wife- Remilekun Taylor in 1960, with whom he had Femi, Yeni and Sola Anikulapo-Kuti.

In 1963, Fela returns to Nigeria and starts working as a producer for the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation. In search of a new musical direction, in 1967, he established the Afrobeat  music genre and moved to Los Angeles with his band where he discovered the Black Power movement and became associated with Sandra Izsadore (Sandra, Fela`s ​ lover, friend and teacher, radically influenced his political ideas and consciousness).

In 1977, Fela released Zombie, one of his most politically motivated albums. This album unleashed an avalanche of vicious attacks from the military rule of  President General Olusegun Obasanjo. One thousand military soldiers stormed Fela`s Kalakuta Republic     (Kalakuta Republic was a commune, recording studio and home that Fela had built for the members of his band) commune.

During this military raid, Fela and members of his band were severely beaten, Kalakuta was destroyed, his instruments and master tapes were obliterated and Fela`​s elderly mother was thrown out of a window and killed. His answer to the military raid, was to deliver his mother`s coffin to Dodan Barracks, (General Obasanjo`s presidential residence). Fela also wrote two songs- Coffin for Head of State and Unknown Soldier- chronicling the military brutality that he and his band members had suffered and also because, the military had claimed that, Kalakuta Republic had been decimated by ‘an unknown soldier’.

In 1978, In an attempt to mark the anniversary of the attack on his commune and as a way to protect himself and his wives from false military kidnapping claims,  Fela married 27 women who were his dancers, composers and singers.

In 1984, Fela vocally opposed president Muhammadu Buhari`s regime and as punishment, he was jailed for 20 months. Upon his release, he divorced the rest of his wives, claiming that, “marriage brings selfishness and jealousy”.

Fela had once again, changed the name of his band to Egypt ’80, explaining the fact that, he believed that, the Egyptian civilization belongs to Africans. In 1989, he released his last album- Beasts Of No Nation. This album, was Fela`​s calculated protest against South Africa`s apartheid system.

In the ’90s, Fela stopped releasing record albums in the midst of very rampant rumours concerning the fact that he had contracted the AIDS virus. On August 3rd 1997, Fela`​s brother, Olikoye Ransome-Kuti ( who was a very prominent AIDS activist) announced Fela`s death. Fela had actually died of heart failure, due to complications from AIDS.

Fela Anikulapo Kuti has been gone for 20 years and is to date recognized as a sociopolitical voice, an accomplished instrumentalist, a global music legend and icon, a fearless political activist and dedicated Yoruba Traditionalist. Fela`s legacy continues to live on, through his children, Femi, Yeni, Seun, Sola, Omosalewa, Kunle and Motunrayo Anikulapo Kuti.

                                                                                           Aleto-Eleme bridge collapse

In the year 2005, former Rivers State governor, Peter Odili and his administration, constructed the multi billion Naira Aleto-Eleme bridge. Governor Odili had previously commissioned Mr. Johnson Arumemi, in charge of the project. Barely 7 years later, Governor Peter Odili has now been replaced and the bridge mysteriously collapses.

The EFCC insists that, Governor Odili`s two term administration had been characterized by high wire fraud, and the embezzlement of state funds totaling over 100 million naira.  There has been mass chaos brought on by the Aleto-Eleme bridge collapse.  The local inhabitants of the area have been massively inconvenienced and cheated.

Gridlock has slowed down the economic progress of the people and the failure of this very important project, continues to fuel the political cynicism and diffidence, that has always existed amongst the people of the Rivers State. Work projects have almost come to a total halt and in the absence of commercial cars, the Rivers People and their business associates are now unable to focus on efficiently carrying out their daily business practices and basic needs.

An investigation has been launched against Peter Odili`s administration, in order to clearly reveal the organized plunder of the treasury of the Rivers State government. Several fraudulent transactions that occurred when the former governor was still in office, were allegedly used to fund his presidential aspirations and lavish lifestyle.

At the moment, the socioeconomic and economic activities of the Rivers State people, is at a stand- still because the fallen bridge, did establish that, the people deserve to get help from the Nigerian government and outside benefactors as well.
