The YWCA consistently presents leadership development opportunities to women and girls. There are women and children, living under the federal poverty line or less, every year. There is documented proof that 76% of women and children that seek help from the YWCA, only earn as little as $23,850 every year, for a family of four.
On an annual basis, the YWCA supplies, more than 122,000 women with economic empowerment opportunities. They also provide more than 2,200 military veterans and their families with healthcare, housing, career education and family counseling. Today, women constitute more than half the American workforce.
The workforce is overwhelmingly saturated with a large number of women with children under the age of 18. A large number of women of color, have low wage jobs in industries that require basic workplace preservation. Out of date workplace policies, are entrenched in the twenty-first century. This, as a result, has compromised most of these women`s work life balance.

YWCA USA is urging the federal government to instill much needed workplace policies for all women and their families. Federal policies such as-fair scheduling practices, paid sick days and and a long awaited increase in minimum wage.
